In its undergraduate program, CSTU intently follows the student development concept of Regarding Cultivating Students as Principle, Putting Priority on Ethics Education, Attaching Importance to Competence and Fostering All-round Students”, and has established and improved the system of “Integrating School Features with Social Requirements, Integrating SYB (Start Your Business) Education with Professional Development Education Program, Integrating Practice Education with Industrial Collaboration, Integrating Quality Education with Core Value, Integrating Personalized Training and Quality Criteria”. CSTU has developed and implemented the Application-Oriented Talent Development Program and has initiated a competence-oriented, three-dimensional, three-in-one training mode for developing students and hierarchical and open “Seven-in-One” SYB Teaching Mode which actively promotes student development by both the school and cooperating enterprises, integrated developing mode and stresses students’ practical ability and innovative ability and entrepreneurship. Since the first semester of 2015 school year, the credit management system has been implemented to further the reform of the credit system, promote the all-round development of students, and foster students’ strengths. A personalized training program, which will link with vocational criteria, has accordingly been established and improved and an application-oriented, talent training quality system rigorously applied. 

In recent years, the school has positively applied the Open and Internalized Operational Mode to its existing range of disciplines. Making use of lessons drawn from successful domestic and foreign experience, it has introduced advanced curriculum systems and teaching management modes. The University has also carried out various forms of educational exchanges and cooperation with foreign universities to develop application-oriented graduates with an international perspective.

As for Senior Vocational Education, the Vocational and Technical School adheres to the operational mode of “Focusing on Teaching and Cultivating Students, Stressing Knowledge and Skills”. Oriented towards market requirements and developing objective of high-quality graduates / talents with technical skills, the “Reserve Duty System” has been running since 2011, integrating national defense education with vocational education, to promote the development of all-round graduates. The School has furthered collaboration of the School and enterprises and established and improved the long-term mechanism of collaborative education, and established successfully the integration of “production and learning”, “university-enterprise cooperation”, and the “Double Bases” construction program by integrating its on-and-off campus and employment bases, which has effectively increased the compatibility of the student development with the requirements of enterprises and enhanced the employability of students and their ability to launch businesses. The school has positively carried out the “Two Certificate System” by increasing its collaboration with the organizations accrediting vocational skills and enterprises, so as to enhance the development of the vocational skills of students and increase their competitiveness in the employment market. The school adopts the educational system of “3+2”, linking senior vocational and technical education WHAT ?? with its undergraduate program: building up an overpass for the development of skill-oriented graduates with a sustainable future.

There are 12 schools in the University: namely: the School of Information Engineering; the School of Management of Finance and Economics; the School of Management of Businesses; the School of Automobile Mechanical Engineering; the School of Visual Arts; the Medical School; the School of Foreign Languages; the School of Construction Engineering; the School of Bio-sciences and Food Engineering; the School of Animal Sciences; the School of International Education and Exchange; and, the Vocational and Technical School. There are 53 Undergraduate Specialties (including the Food Science and Engineering in collaboration with California Baptist University, in the USA), creating a system of specialties with Engineering as the principal specialty, Agriculture as a featured specialty, and Administration, Literature, Arts, Economics, Natural Science, and Medical Science playing a supporting role. and 39 Senior Technical Specialties, creating a coordinated structure of specialties with Civil Engineering, Equipment Manufacturing, Medical Hygiene, Finance, Economics, Commerce and Trade, Traffic and Transportation as the principle specialties and Agriculture, Forestry, Husbandry and Fishing; Resources, Environment and Safety; Food, Drugs and Grains; Electronic Information; Tourism; Culture and Arts; Education and Physical Education playing a supporting role.

The postgraduate program plays a crucial role in higher education, and is a significant way to cultivate higher level talent. It is also important for increasing the academic level of the school. The postgraduate program of CSTU was started in 2012 when it began to cultivate postgraduate students in the Faculties of Animal Husbandry, Veterinary and Food Sciences and Engineering in collaboration with Konkuk University of South Korea. CSTU has signed an Agreement of Cooperative Postgraduate Students Development Program with Beihua University, Jilin Agricultural University and Jilin Normal University in succession. Under the approval of the Jilin Provincial Educational Council, cooperative postgraduate programs in Food Sciences, Veterinary Science, and Business Administration, have been launched and listed in the Postgraduate Enrollment Plan. The Application-Oriented Development System from undergraduate to postgraduate students has been built up, which optimizes the structure and distribution of students’ development, promotes the process of construction of private university with high level and matches the system of specialties with Engineering as the principal specialty, Agriculture as a featured specialty and Administration, Literature, Economics, Natural Science, and Medical Science playing a supporting role. 

In order to realize its long-term development goals and link with international education, our university has formally signed a cooperation agreement with 19 colleges and universities in countries such as South Korea, Russia, United States, Thailand, Singapore, and has also formally signed a cooperative agreement with 16 universities and colleges in Taiwan. Undergraduates and graduates can be offered long-term or short-term exchange or postgraduate study.

Looking into the future, CSTU will adhere to the school motto of: “Upholding Moral and Character, Devoting to Studying and Developing Skills”, with the aspirations of “Taking the Lead, Pursuing Excellence”, “Upholding High-Minded Morality, Humanity, Confidence, Persistence, Gratitude, Honesty and Generosity”, and, “Striving for the Construction of an Application-Oriented High Level University with Special Features”. 


The School of Continuing Education - formerly the Training Center of CSTU - was established in 2013 and is mainly responsible for the examination and certification of students in the vocational colleges attached to the university. Under the great support and specific guidance of the University leaders, the School of Continuing Education is: paying close attention to the demands of economic and social development; positively exploring new educational modes such as long-distance Internet education and autonomous study examination; and, relying on the complete system of specialties and powerful teaching resources. In 2014, the school was selected as a Continuing First Batch of Professionals Education Base for Jilin Province and undertakes the mission of cultivating graduates of the highest order for important fields in economic and social development of the Province. 

The University firmly: adheres to the principle of quality teaching which is regarded as the lifeline of Continuing Education; reinforces the construction of management teams and the relevant rules and regulations; highlights each step of management; pays particular attention to recruitment; works for accreditation; and, expands the scale of the school. At present, the school has organized 32 types of certification tests in 13 fields, including Standard Chinese Proficiency Test, College English Test, National Computer Rank Test and various tests of vocational skills. Over 11,000 students take part in more than 30 tests each year.  

In order to put the policy of Accelerating Development of Modern Vocational Education Both National Level and Provincial Level into practice, the school has continuously furthered teaching reform and vigorously explored creating a flexible system through which students and other social members can get vocational education and training, so as to make a greater contribution to for learning for all and lifelong learning, promoting  construction of study-oriented society and improving the students’ entrepreneurship and employment ability.
